As Furioso Vineyards’ Chardonnay grapes were not yet ready for production, we sourced fruit from Terry Family and Lazy River vineyards. Terry Family Vineyard is approximately 4 miles northwest of Carlton, Oregon at an elevation of roughly 400 feet. Lazy River Vineyard is northwest of Yamhill, Oregon on the slope of Mt. Richmond at an elevation of 370 feet.
Produced with Burgundy in mind, this intense, multi-layered wine delivers aromas of honey suckle, jasmine, toasted almonds, and some hints of lemon zest. In the mouth, those are complemented by notes of white peach and a touch of flintiness on the finish. A careful aging for 20 months in French neutral barrels gives this Chardonnay an exceptional balance between fat and acidity. The wine is unctuous, yet lively. The complex, matured flavors, broad palate, silky structure and length of this wine are a reminder of a Meursault in a ripe vintage.
This wine can be cellared for up to 8 years and paired with rich white fish, lobster, or veal in a creamy white sauce.
