2020 Rose of Pinot Noir
Due to weather conditions during the 2020 growing season which lead to a low yield in the vineyard, we were only able to produce a limited amount of our Rosé of Pinot Noir that year (only 147 cases, less than half the previous vintage!) Fruit quality was there however, and we harvested the Pinot Noir grapes (Dijon clone 667, for the wine geeks out there) at low brix and high acidity to craft this refreshing Rosé. The whole clusters were promptly pressed after harvest and the extracted juice was fermented to dryness partially in stainless steel tanks and partially in neutral French oak. Unlike previous editions of our Rosé, no darker “saignée” wine was added, as we felt we achieved the perfect depth of color for this wine. On the nose, it displays aromatics of watermelon and almond, along with more complex notes of raspberry and dried herbs. Despite its liveliness, in the mouth it delivers a delightful weight on the mid-palate. It will be the perfect wine to share with your friends at summer parties or at a more formal dinner with a quiche Lorraine or some grilled chicken breast with a lemon garlic sauce.
