2021 Melon de Bourgogne

Melon de Bourgogne is the dominant grape of the area around Nantes, close to the Brittany coast and the region from where winemaker Dom Mahé also hails. So it just felt fitting when we came across the opportunity to purchase some Melon fruit from Golden Leaf Vineyard in Southern Oregon’s beautiful Umpqua Valley. Much akin to the Breton Coast, we are similarly blessed with beautiful shellfish here in Oregon - reminding us of the saying “what grows together goes together”. The wine’s citrus notes, bright acidity, and signature salinity makes this a classic oyster pairing! Our Melon also shows riper notes of grapefruit, lime blossom, and honeydew, with green pear and lemon on the palate. The mouthfeel is lush and textural, thanks to its 6 months spent sur lie. We hope you enjoy!
